As I travel through life, I continue to discover that greatest joy comes from simplest things. One of these things is SPRING and everything it brings. Shy rays of sunshine dance on my face, warming me up after the cold, windy winter. Birds sing in anticipation of a beautiful summer and abundance of food. 1. Be aware. Focus on the present and be in the moment. If it's a nice sunny day outside, focus on the feeling of warmth and sun on your face as you walk on the street. If you are cooking, focus on the smell of delicious dish. If you are having a conversation, focus on the person you are talking to.

2. Treat yourself. Don't wait until later and later to do things you love. And it doesn't have to be anything extravagant o...

There once was a very wealthy and curious king. This king had a huge boulder placed in the middle of a road. Then he hid nearby to see if anyone would try to remove the gigantic rock from the road.

The first people to pass by were some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers. Rather than moving it, they simply walked around it. A few loudly blamed the King for not maintaining the roads. Not one of them tried to...

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson aboout life. "A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, emp...

Across the world, the definition of success is almost unchanged. Success is represented by two factors: wealth and recognition. In her book "Thrive" Arianna Huffington compares this definition to a person sitting on a chair with only two legs. Eventually, the chair will collapse underneath. So what is it that we are missing?  And why do people, who are very succesfull on paper, end up, oftentimes, not feeling...

1. Simple things can make us happy! A sunny day, a cloud shaped like Mickey Mouse, yummy snack, funny movie, and playing in the snow! To be happy we don't need anything too complicated. 2. Spend time doing things we love. Why not? There is only one life and we should enjoy it. Children draw beautiful pictures, dance and watch cartoons. We should spend less time worrying about tomorrow and more time enjoying today,...

Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, “All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing.”

Edison replied very confidently, “Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb.”

When our work brings no noticiable...

The past is behind us, and the future is not yet here, and the only thing we do have is the present. What is "now," and how can we notice it?

I try not to be biased, but I had my doubts about hiring Stevie. His placement counselor assured me that he would be a good, reliable busboy. But I had never had a mentally handicapped employee and wasn't sure I wanted one.

I wasn't sure how my customers would react to Stevie. He was short, a little dumpy with the smooth facial features and thick-tongued speech of Downs Syndrome.

I wasn't worried about most of my trucker...

John Lubbock
“What we do see depends mainly on what we look for. ... In the same field the farmer will notice the crop, the geologists the fossils, botanists the flowers, artists the colouring, sportmen the cover for the game. Though we may all look at the same things, it does not all follow that we should see them.”

And so different people will notice different things in the same situation. One person will notice op...
