What is the difference between group think and group polarization?

These are the terms that you have to know for your upcoming MCAT test psychology and sociology part.

Group think is the tendency of members of the group to conform to the ideas and decisions of the group so that they do not stand out. For example, if you a part of a group and the group is deciding what pizza to order. If everyone in the group says that they like plain pizza, even if you like pepperoni, most likely you will say t

hat you like plain as well to fit in with the group, thus showcasing groupthink.

Group polarization, on the other hand, comes from the word "polar". Members of the group tend to polarize their views to the extreme in a group setting. For example when members enter a group with moderate views on immigration, their views will go from moderate to extreme.
