Regents Chemistry Exam June 2024 Question 39

39 A solution has a mass of 2000. grams and contains 0.050 gram of dissolved solute. What is the concentration in parts per million of this

solution?

(1) 5.0 ppm (3) 50. ppm

(2) 25 ppm (4) 100. ppm

Solution:

All the equations can be found in Table T on the Reference table. The formula for concentration in parts per million is mass of solute/mass of solution *1000000.

(0.050/2000)*1000000 = 25ppm. Choice 2 is the correct answer.
