June 2018 NY Regents Chemistry Exam

44 Based on Table I, what is the ΔH value for the production of 1.00 mole of NO2(g) from its elements at 101.3 kPa and 298 K? (1) +33.2 kJ

(2) -33.2 kJ

(3) +132.8 kJ

(4) -132.8 kJ

Solution: All we need to do is take a look at Table I and find the correct ΔH value for the correct equation.

In the equation there is 2 in front of NO2 signifying two moles. We are looking for ΔH value for one mole. +66.4/2=+33.2
