Calculate the work associated with the expansion of a gas from 46 L to 64 L at a constant external p

Calculate the work associated with the expansion of a gas from 46 L to 64 L at a constant external pressure of 15 atm.

Solution:

Work = - PΔV where P is external pressure and ΔV is change in volume.

ΔV = Vfinal - V initial

Work = -15atm(64L-46L) = -270 L*atm
