Draw a structure of (Z)-2-bromo-2-pentene

First, we begin with the parent chain, pentene. Prefix pent means 5 carbons. We can draw a 5 carbon chain and number it.

Next, we see number 2 and ending ene, signifying a double bond starting from carbon 2 to carbon 3. We also see 2-bromo, which means there is a bromine attached to carbon 2.

Finally, we have to check if the double bond is E or Z. Rules for E/Z naming can be found on THIS PAGE. The molecule is Z and therefore, we leave it as is.
