Regents Chemistry Exam January 2025 Question 41

41 Which change will cause an open flask half-filled with water at 295 K and 1.0 atm to reach phase equilibrium?

(1) increase the pressure

(2) increase the temperature

(3) remove some of the water

(4) seal the flask with a stopper

Solution:

Sealing the flask with a stopper will cause the water vapor to not be able to escape and will allow for the phase equibrium to be reached. Choice 4 is the correct answer.
