5 Which statement describes a chemical property of an element?

(1)  Aluminum melts at 933 K.

(2)  Copper is reddish in color.

(3)  Silver reacts with hydrogen sulfide.

(4)  Potassium has a density of 0.89 g/cm3 at room temperature.


Solution:


A chemical property refers to the ability of substance to undergo a reaction and change its identity. Choice 3 describes a reaction and is therefore a chemical property. The rest of the choices are physical properties.
