(1) Both oxidation and reduction occur at the anode.

(2) Both oxidation and reduction occur at the cathode.

(3) Oxidation occurs at the anode and reduction occurs at the cathode.

(4) Oxidation occurs at the cathode and reduction occurs at the anode.


Solution:

There is a great mnemonic for this that you can memorize. An Ox (anode is oxidation).

Red Cat (reduction is at the cathode). Choice 3 is the correct answer choice.
